Pros & Considerations

Systems

Catching, evolution, move coverage and elemental typing create a flexible team-building loop with hundreds of possible party combinations

Abilities, Natures and Double Battles materially deepen team construction compared with the Game Boy generations.

Progression

Gym, rival and route structure gives the campaign a clear sequence while optional captures and side areas reward exploration

Consider

Content: Emerald later added the Battle Frontier and combined story elements, so Ruby/Sapphire are no longer the most feature-complete Hoenn versions.

Completion: Version-exclusive Pokémon mean a single release cannot complete its full Pokédex without trading, transfers or another compatible version
