A weapon that should never have fired
The world of Valandis is torn by war when Glenn, a Sky Armor pilot, participates in an assault involving the Grand Grimoire. Its catastrophic activation kills huge numbers of people, making the weapon central to the continent's struggle for power. Survivors from rival backgrounds—including Princess Lenne—become allies in an effort to prevent the kingdoms and secret factions from repeating the disaster.
Reincarnation and a terrible confession
Glenn and Lenne awaken memories from earlier lifetimes. At first Glenn believes he was the noble Timothy, once loved by Lenne's former incarnation. The truth is worse: he was Van, the man who murdered Timothy and Lenne. His attempts to become a better person across subsequent lives are shaped by that old crime, and discovering it breaks him. Kylian, meanwhile, tries to seize the authority needed to change the world and becomes entangled with the Vaen.
Ending explained: passing the burden on
The party confronts and defeats the Vaen, but Kylian becomes the vessel through which their power threatens to endure. Glenn chooses not to cling to his latest life or to his power: he transfers that power to Kylian and dies, hoping the man can use the chance better than he did. Lenne becomes queen and prepares for the still-unresolved threat of the Harbinger. Glenn is reborn as a bird; redemption is depicted as a choice, not erased guilt.
