A stranger falls onto Aster IV

Raymond Lawrence's merchant ship Ydas is attacked by a Federation vessel, and he escapes to the underdeveloped planet Aster IV. He meets Princess Laeticia of Aucerius, who needs help defending her kingdom while she searches for the engineer Midas. Their alliance begins as an exchange of favours but grows into a crisis involving both the planet's war and interstellar politics.

The Federation and the Scorpium

The party learns that technology and agents tied to a collective called Scorpium are infiltrating societies across the galaxy. Integration into the network is presented as a path to unity but increasingly operates through coercion. D.U.M.A., at first a remarkable companion offering new powers, is part of the deeper technological struggle and does not simply belong to one planetary faction.

Bohld'or and the network's control

As Raymond and Laeticia recruit allies and reach the wider universe, they discover that Bohld'or and others intend to use Scorpium to erase individual choice in pursuit of imposed harmony. They confront assimilated enemies and learn how the network transforms people and institutions into instruments of its agenda.

Ending explained: preserving individual lives

The group confronts the Scorpium network and defeats the forces attempting to bind everyone to it. D.U.M.A. acts to break the final threat, allowing Aster IV and the wider galaxy to move beyond forced assimilation. Raymond and Laeticia's dual routes provide different emphases, and the post-credits personal ending depends on relationship affinity; there is no single mandatory romantic conclusion shared by every playthrough.
