Humanity leaves its ruined home
After a catastrophic war on Earth, Edge Maverick and Reimi Saionji join the Space Reconnaissance Force's exploration mission. They meet the young Eldarian Faize, then gather allies across distant planets. The crew hopes new worlds will offer a future, but threats called Grigori are corrupting living things and changing them into monsters.
The lesson of the alternate Earth
Edge's crew reaches an alternate Earth that appears to be in the twentieth century. They witness how recklessly sharing advanced knowledge can trigger catastrophe, and Edge comes to understand that even well-intended contact can destroy a civilisation unprepared for it. The experience fundamentally changes his view of exploration and the responsibility accompanying superior technology.
The Missing Procedure and Faize
A dimension-threatening entity called the Missing Procedure manipulates evolution through Grigori, Phantom forces and the Nox Obscurus. Faize suffers devastating losses among his Eldarian people and is drawn toward the promise of a world without suffering or inequality. At the final stronghold, the party discovers that the enemy's Apostle of Creation is Faize himself, transformed by his despair.
Ending explained: the right not to interfere
The heroes defeat Faize's monstrous form and thwart the Missing Procedure; Edge survives an apparent fall into another dimension. The survivors agree that advancing humanity's reach must not mean imposing its technology on other civilisations. The Eldarians choose a fresh beginning while Edge and Reimi continue exploring with greater humility. Optional character epilogues depend on affinity, and some reveal the fates of Faize and the wider crew.
