A new police unit
Lloyd Bannings returns to Crossbell to join the newly formed Special Support Section alongside Elie, Tio and Randy. Given seemingly ordinary assistance requests, they discover the reality of a city caught between foreign influence, corrupt politics and criminal organisations. Lloyd is also trying to understand the death of his older brother Guy.
The underworld and the mystery of KeA
The team investigates the rivalry between the Revache crime syndicate and Heiyue, follows connections among politicians, and rescues a mysterious child named KeA from a criminal auction. KeA has no memory of her origins, yet her importance to people secretly operating in Crossbell quickly becomes clear. The SSS takes her in as family.
Gnosis and the cult
A dangerous drug called Gnosis grants abnormal powers while exposing users to manipulation. The investigation leads to the D∴G cult, which committed horrific experiments on children, including Tio. The apparently helpful Dr Joachim Guenter is exposed as a surviving cult leader determined to use KeA's extraordinary abilities to reach a new stage of the cult's plans.
Ending explained: Joachim falls, KeA stays
The SSS reaches the cult's final stronghold and defeats Joachim, preventing the immediate disaster. Crossbell celebrates its police heroes, and KeA is finally able to live among people who care for her. The victory does not fully explain her origin or the conspiracy's deeper financial and political backers. Those unanswered questions—and the truth of KeA's power—lead directly into Trails to Azure.
