Dragon Quest VIII — Nintendo 3DS
The 3DS version is the gameplay/content recommendation: it replaces most random encounters with visible field monsters, adds Red and Morrie as party members, extra story scenes and dungeons, battle speed-up, Quick Save and instant alchemy. The PS2 original still has the stronger large-screen visual presentation and is an excellent alternative through PCSX2.
Visible field encounters instead of normal random encounters
Red and Morrie become playable
Extra story/dungeons
Battle speed-up, Quick Save and instant alchemy
Lower-resolution presentation than the PS2 version
The recommended setup uses emulation. Acquire the game legitimately and use your own legally obtained dump; FC links to emulator/setup resources, not game files.
PCSX2 texture replacement for the visually stronger PS2 version; does not add the 3DS-exclusive content.
