A promise interrupted
Young Asbel Lhant befriends a mysterious girl named Sophie alongside his brother Hubert, Cheria and Prince Richard. An attack in a secret passage leaves them mortally wounded, and Sophie sacrifices herself to save them. Asbel leaves home to train as a knight, breaking his bond with his father and separating the friends who survived.
Seven years later
Asbel returns after his father's death to find Lhant threatened and his old friendships strained. Sophie reappears, and Richard's behaviour becomes increasingly dangerous. The party learns that Lambda, a being once mistreated by humans, has merged with Richard and seeks revenge against humanity through control of Ephinea's core.
Fodra and Lambda's pain
The group travels to the devastated planet Fodra to restore Sophie's failing body and uncover the truth about her origin as an artificial being created to oppose Lambda. A scientist named Emeraude attempts to exploit the conflict, but the final choice belongs to Asbel: rather than let Sophie destroy herself to end Lambda, he accepts Lambda into himself and promises to show him that humanity can change.
Ending explained: Lineage and Legacies
The additional Future Arc reveals that Fodra's consciousness has awakened and again threatens humanity through the Little Queens. Lambda takes that consciousness into himself, as Asbel once did for him, hoping to overcome its hatred. Sophie learns that her longevity need not mean eternal loneliness; the epilogue shows her telling the story to Asbel and Cheria's descendants. The arc ends with reconciliation and the possibility of love surviving across generations.
