Story and background
An amnesiac martial artist from Lahan whose fractured identities and reincarnations reach back to the Eldridge. Fei confronts Id, his father's past and Deus to claim a future alongside Elly.
Fei lives in Lahan with a damaged memory until the destruction of his village forces him into the conflict between Aveh, Kislev and Solaris.
His fractured identity and the hidden nature of the Contact connect him to earlier lives, including Abel, Kim and Lacan. The history of the planet is also a history of his reincarnations.
His struggle against Deus culminates in more than a physical battle: Fei must face the divisions within his own mind and the consequences of manipulation stretching across generations.
Events and connections in the series
In the present era, the Contact is reborn as Fei Fong Wong. Fei's childhood is marked by horrific attempts to manipulate him and by the transformation of his mother Karen into a vessel for Miang. To survive intolerable trauma, Fei's mind develops separated identities, most notably the destructive Id and the everyday personality the player first meets. The mysterious Wiseman is connected to Fei's father, Khan, and the conflict surrounding Grahf.
Historical context
The Xenogears story spans millennia between the Eldridge catastrophe and Fei’s era. Solaris, the Contact and the Antitype connect personal tragedies to the attempted restoration of Deus. Characters may occupy very different places in that engineered history.
