Complete Xeno lore / Miang

Character biography

Miang

Deus resurrection system

Story and background

A recurring presence embedded in engineered humanity to shepherd the planet toward restoring Deus. Her identities and influence make her more than a single human antagonist.

Events and connections in the series

After the crash, Kadomony's self-repair program generates a mother figure who serves as the origin of the planet's engineered human population. Through this system come Emperor Cain, the original Gazel Ministry and the complementary Elly and Miang roles. Cain and the Ministry ultimately serve the resurrection of Deus; Miang's mission is to shepherd humanity through the necessary development and back toward its intended use.

Kim's bond with the Elly of that era continues the ancient pattern. Their research leads to Emeralda, an artificial life-form created through advanced nanotechnology. Miang's intervention destroys their hopes: Elly dies protecting the project, Kim ensures Emeralda survives, and Zeboim descends into catastrophe. Much later, Fei and his companions discover Emeralda and the ruins that preserve this history.

Sophia sacrifices herself during the war. Lacan's grief and rage leave him vulnerable to Miang's manipulation. Through contact with the Zohar and the pursuit of power, he becomes Grahf, a destructive presence who persists by moving between human hosts. Krelian, driven by the loss of Sophia and his own desire to overcome human suffering, turns toward methods that will eventually make him one of the story's most dangerous figures.

Historical context

The Xenogears story spans millennia between the Eldridge catastrophe and Fei’s era. Solaris, the Contact and the Antitype connect personal tragedies to the attempted restoration of Deus. Characters may occupy very different places in that engineered history.
